Hanson has established professional relationships within the Air Force, the Pentagon Office of the Secretary of Defense, the New Mexico Congressional Delegation, the State Legislature and State agencies, along with the communities supporting the four large military installations in New Mexico. He has led the New Mexico Military Base Planning and Support Commission, the Albuquerque Sunport, and Spaceport America. General Scott is a command pilot with more than 5500 flying hours. He has been awarded the Legion of Merit with oak leaf cluster, Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Air Medal with eight oak leaf clusters, and Air Force Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster. He is a native New Mexican, hailing from Reserve, and a graduate of USAF Academy. His service to New Mexico was recognized via Senate Memorial 107 in 2015.
